Louisiana Bayou Recovery from Hurricanes

+   Greetings in Christ's Christian Greeting Cards ministry began simply with cloth salvaged from a home after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, with the first of ongoing HOPE Teams from St. John's Lutheran Church, La Grange, IL.

+   God has led St. John's HOPE Teams to a very special group of people at Bayou Grace Community Services who work tirelessly to bring hope and sustainability as they deal with ongoing wetlands erosion and destruction from Hurricanes Gustav-Ike and Katrina-Rita. Scores of devastated homes have been restored and made livable through the efforts of volunteers from all over the country.

Rebuilding a home on Louisiana Bayous after Hurricanes Gusta-Ike and Katrina-Rita

+   St. John's has been blessed with many special friendships with the folks they have served. To date, 19 HOPE Teams have made trips for Gulf Coast recovery since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita hit the coast in 2005.

+   "Our prayers will continue to be with all of our friends and the people of the Bayou Grace area. Support from our congregation has been great and we hope to put a program together to generate new interest in this mission. There is still work to be done and without people of faith pitching in, the work will not be completed. Each time I go on one of these mission trips I watch the hand of God at work. He puts us in touch with the right people to serve and He gives us the talent to perform the various tasks they need completed. I thank Him again for all the blessings granted on this trip and I thank all of the team members for making this a spectacular trip!" Quote, Gary Mayor, HOPE Team 19 Journal, March 2009

+  Proceeds from cards and photos sold on this site, GreetingsinChrist.org, directly aids people through Bayou Grace Community Services. These funds do not in any way support St. John's Lutheran Church and School.

+  Greetings in Christ expenses are limited to card/envelope and photo processing costs. Volunteers design, process and sell cards. Some card costs are often defrayed by donations from members and friends of St. John's Lutheran Church.
